Weddings

How many weddings do you shoot and what is your availability like?

We only do a limited run of weddings each year. We’re not at all about volume. We’re all about providing a quality service to our clients and living quality lives. There is a very good chance we might be booked up for the year. So we strongly recommend checking with us for your date and inquiring to see how full our schedule is for the year. Contact us to find out more.

How do we secure you for our wedding date?

First, fill out our form on the contact page to see if we are available for your wedding date. If so, then we require a 50% retainer fee along with a signed agreement to book your wedding date. The only way for us to keep track of inquiries and book dates is to have it on a first come, first serve basis. By this, we mean, the first one to make the deposit and sign a contract gets the date.

How many images will we get from the wedding?

For every wedding it is completely different depending on how many photographers we have onsite, the times we’re shooting from, if you’re doing a first look, all the venue locations, number of guests, the weather and lighting conditions. However, we like to guarantee no less than 60 images for every hour of coverage with two photographers.

Do you travel for weddings?

Yes, we are available for travel and welcome most US and International destination weddings.

What are the best times for bride and groom photos?

This is an area that we can further consult with you on after your date is booked. Our goal through all of this is to make the most of our time and make sure that you enjoy your wedding day. Generally speaking though, it’s better to have the majority of our time spent while it’s still daylight. This will maximize our opportunity to take more shots, be creative and get more color from the natural light. If you’re doing a first look than we like having two opportunities for bride & groom photos. One just after your first look and the other right around sunset when the light is nice and soft. Check out our Idea Wedding Day Timeline article for more detail on this.

Should we see each other before the ceremony?

We are somewhat biased when it comes to this question because we’re all about getting great photos and having the wedding day be less stressful and more enjoyable. So we would totally encourage you to plan a first look before the wedding ceremony begins. We’ll promise to make it intimate and special, just like you have always envisioned it to be. If you do this, it will give us more time to schedule for taking creative pictures, calm your wedding day nerves and give you more moments to enjoy with friends and family. If your concerned about it taking away from the ceremony, don’t be. I can show you loads of grooms balling their eyes out as the bride comes down the aisle minutes after doing a first look.

Do you have insurance?

Yes, we have all the proper coverages for professional wedding photographers through The Hartford. We can submit a certificate of insurance at any time to your venue if they don’t already have our name on file.

Do you have back-up gear in case something breaks?

Yes, Yes, Yes!!! We wouldn’t be wedding photographers without lots of backup gear in case something goes wrong.

Do you have a safe way for backing up our wedding photos?

We shoot our images mirrored to 128GB dual cards. Once the shoot is complete we keep those cards in separate locations from each other. Once we get back to the studio that evening we back up all the files to our Raid 5 system which makes clones and transfers duplicates to our Raid 1 system that does the same. Once all the files get to our local drives they are immediately uploaded to our secure offsite cloud backup solution which has multiple locations and drive monitoring systems of it’s own. So yeah we are pretty tight on keeping our photos safe and secure.

What happens if your sick or can’t make it?

In the past this has never been an issue for us. But just to be safe we have a team of associate photographers who’ve been trained by us and shoot with us at almost every wedding. They have access to our studio and gear in the event that something should go wrong. We also have a network of highly talented local photographers that we can reach out to. It’s a close knit community of likeminded artists that look out for each other. If this is still a concern of yours we also have other options we would be happy to talk with you about during our consultation meeting.

Engagements

When do engagement sessions take place?

Tuesday and Thursday evenings usually work best for us. This does change from time to time so please inquire with us about it. We recommend shooting closer to sunset when the lighting is nice and soft. Mornings work too if your up for a sunrise shoot.

Should we do an engagement session?

We love shooting engagement sessions! Feeling comfortable and having fun is a huge part to capturing good photos. Let’s face it, most people do not feel comfortable when getting their picture taken, especially from a photographer with a big fancy camera who you’ve never met before. Engagement sessions seem to eliminate all of this unnecessary stress. It gives us an opportunity to get to know each other, be ourselves, have a good time, get some awesome pictures and really prepare us for the wedding day. So yes, we always recommend having an engagement session.

What should we wear for our engagement session?

Matching wool Christmas sweaters or all white linen! JK. We always tell people to dress in what makes them feel good. If none of your clothes make you feel good than go buy some new ones. Either way, wear something that identifies you. We have a handbook specifically for this that we give to all of our clients while planning out their shoot. Email us if you’d like us to send it your way. Otherwise feel free to browse our Pinterest board for wardrob ideas.

Can we combine portrait sessions?

Yes, but we recommend that each session be designated for the appropriate amount of time so you’re left with a good amount of photos.

General

Do we get to keep the images?

Absolutely! All services include the high-resolution (print ready) images fully edited in JPEG format.

How do you deliver your images?

Our final images are delivered through a gallery online. You will receive a direct link to your gallery where all the high-resolution images can be downloaded directly to any device. This gallery also connects directly to our print lab so friend and family can make professional quality prints and have them drop shipped to any location.

Do you deliver the negatives or original files?

We deliver high-resolution (print ready) images in JPEG format with all of our final edits applied. As a service to you nothing leaves our studio unfinished. We do not deliver the RAW files before post production.

Can we print the photos out on our own?

In order to ensure the highest level of print quality (correct color matching and long lasting material) we strongly recommend printing directly through your gallery. We work with the best print labs that cater only to photo professionals. However, you are more than welcome to make prints anywhere you’d like.

Can we edit or apply effects/filters to your photos?

This is actually a great question… Glad you asked! First off, we can’t stop you from being creative and showing off your fancy editing skillz. From time to time we’ll see see an image of ours that has been manipulated with a filter from Instagram. It’s not the end of the world to us but it’s definitely not something we would want our name attached with. We’ve worked extremely hard to deliver a quality of work that is timeless, so don’t let those free apps at your finger tell you otherwise. We do what we can to control the final outcome of our work and provide you with only the best. But if you can’t resist the urge then sure, go ahead, put ketchup on your fancy steak. Just remember, a lot of effort was put into delivering your custom wedding photos.

What type of gear do you shoot with?

We primarily shoot with Canon 5d Mark II’s and III’s. Most of our lenses are prime L series glass.
